As a perinatal mental health therapist I am horrified and terrified at what has occurred. Reproductive justice is a human right.

"Reproductive justice is having the right and autonomy to have children, not to have children and to raise the children we have in safe and sustainable communities.

The Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade will have grave consequences for all birthing people, but the gravest consequences will be felt by those with the least support - those coping with intimate partner violence and reproductive coercion; those who are commercially and sexually exploited; those who are unhoused; those lacking access to quality prenatal, pediatric and mental health care; those at risk of involvement with child welfare; those whose incomes are not protected by paid family leave; those experiencing racial discrimination in the birth place; those seeking to break the cycle of inter generational trauma.

Perinatal mental health is dependent on reproductive justice."

We are all processing this in real time. Allow yourself some grace- to mourn, to feel enraged, scared, even powerless. And then begin ANYWHERE.

The National Network of Abortion Funds builds power with members to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access by centering people who have abortions and organizing at the intersections of racial, economic, and reproductive justice.
